Summit Sweets™ Ruby Beardtongue (Penstemon)

(Beard Tongue) Penstemon SUMMIT SWEETS® Ruby is a striking perennial that brings radiant color and graceful form to the summer garden. Its upright spikes are densely packed with rich ruby-red, tubular flowers that shimmer in the sunlight and attract hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies from late spring through midsummer. The vivid blooms stand out beautifully against the backdrop of lush green foliage, adding energy and elegance to borders, pollinator gardens, and sunny mixed beds. This variety from the SUMMIT SWEETS® series is prized for its improved vigor, strong stems, and long-lasting bloom display. Growing about 30 to 34 inches tall and 24 to 30 inches wide, 'Ruby' provides excellent vertical interest while maintaining a tidy, compact shape that fits well in modern landscapes. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, Penstemon SUMMIT SWEETS® Ruby is both heat and drought tolerant once established. It performs best in moderately dry conditions and is remarkably low maintenance no deadheading required for continuous flowering. Hardy in zones 5 to 9, this reliable perennial is deer and rabbit resistant, making it as tough as it is beautiful. With its brilliant ruby-red blooms and refined habit, 'Ruby' brings lasting color and pollinator activity to any sunny garden.
