Summer Wine® Black Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius)

Make a striking impact with Summer Wine® Black ninebark, the shrub with the darkest, most dramatic foliage you can find. Its deep, rich color provides a sophisticated contrast to any landscape, making it an ideal choice for accentuating your home’s exterior. In spring, delicate white flower clusters bloom, beautifully contrasting with the nearly-black leaves. The upright stems and small, finely textured foliage create a captivating visual effect, making Summer Wine Black the perfect addition to elevate your garden’s design. 5-6 feet tall and wide at maturity Hardy in zones 3-7, be sure to check your USDA zone to ensure success Plant in full sun (6+ hours daily) Space plants 5-6 feet apart for best results Maintains nearly-black foliage spring through frost Produces pinkish-white flowers throughout spring Blooms on old wood Great for borders, containers, cut flowers, screening, landscapes, mass planting, and focal points Native to North America Our deciduous shrubs are entering their natural dormancy phase. As part of this process, foliage is turning colors, drying out, and falling off—this is completely normal! Shedding leaves helps the plants conserve energy and prepare for the next growing season. Rest assured, your shrubs will wake up and thrive again when it's time in your growing zone. Dormancy is how they prepare for a healthy, vibrant comeback as the seasons change! Care: Fertilize with Proven Winners Continuous Release Plant Food in spring and mid-summer. Regular pruning is not necessary. If any shaping is desired, do so just after the plant has flowered in the spring.   Shipping Info: Enjoy free shipping on orders over $125 Size at shipping varies by the season and plant Quart shrubs are 5-8" tall at shipment 1-Gallon shrubs are 6-24" tall at shipment Shrubs shipped Nov-Apr will arrive dormant; shrubs shipped Apr-Oct will arrive green or in bloom
