*Additional shipping charges apply The 24" Summa S One D60 is a drag-knife roll cutter built for low-to-mid volume print-and-cut production, bundled with ColorByte ImagePrint R.E.D. and Summa GoSign software to pair directly with Canon imagePROGRAF large-format printers. Summa's S One Series uses Drag Knife Technology, the most widely deployed contour-cutting method in the sign and graphics market, to deliver precise, repeatable cuts without the cost and complexity of a tangential system. The D60 handles media from 3.2 to 26 inches wide with a 23.2-inch standard cutting width, reaching diagonal speeds up to 44 ips with acceleration up to 3 G. Its material transport system keeps long jobs tracking accurately, supporting up to 26 feet of continuous cutting on media under 30 inches within guaranteed specifications. For sign shops, reprographics firms, and in-house marketing teams already running Canon imagePROGRAF printers, the D60 closes the loop between print and finished product. Compatible Canon media includes adhesive vinyl, durable matte film, luster, and repositionable peel-n-stick, enabling decals, stickers, labels, window graphics, and short-run signage produced entirely in-house. Why choose the Summa S One D60: OPOS X optical registration — Reads up to 2 × 64 registration marks on the X-line with Y-line compensation for accurate contour cutting on printed graphics Barcode job recognition — Loads the correct cut file automatically, reducing operator setup time on repeat and multi-job rolls FlexCut cut-through capability — Produces finished, ready-to-ship pieces without a separate trimming step ImagePrint R.E.D. included standard — Nesting and kiss-cutting workflow from ColorByte ships with every D60 Up to 600 g knife pressure — Handles media from 0.002 in to 0.010 in thick, including heavier films Flexible connectivity — Ethernet, USB, and WiFi fit into virtually any production network Summa S One D60 Specifications Specification 24" Summa S One D60 Professional Benefit Cutting Technology Drag Knife Industry-standard method with widely available knives and consumables Media Width 3.2 in to 26 in Accommodates narrow label stock through 24" roll media on one machine Max. What size media can the Summa S One D60 cut? The D60 accepts roll and sheet media from 3.2 inches up to 26 inches wide. Standard maximum working width is 23.2 inches × 1968 inches. Oversized mode expands the cutting area by roughly 2.36 inches to 25.6 inches × 1968 inches, though tracking performance is no longer guaranteed in that mode. For most 24-inch print-and-cut workflows on a Canon imagePROGRAF, the standard 23.2-inch width covers the printable area with margin to spare.   Quick Answer: Yes — ColorByte ImagePrint R.E.D. and Summa GoSign are both bundled with the S One D60 at no additional cost. Does the Summa S One D60 come with cutting software? Both packages ship standard. Summa GoSign manages cutting workflows with automated cutting options, custom configurations, and plug-ins for common design programs. ColorByte ImagePrint R.E.D. adds nesting, kiss cutting, and high-speed contour cutting designed to reduce manual setup between printing and finishing. Together they cover the workflow from design file to finished cut piece without third-party software licensing.   Quick Answer: OPOS X optically reads printed registration marks so the cutter follows the contour of your printed graphic, not just a coordinate file. How does OPOS X registration work on printed graphics? OPOS (Optical POsitioning System) X uses a sensor to locate printed registration marks on your media, then compensates for any skew, stretch, or misalignment introduced during printing or loading. The D60 reads up to 2 × 64 marks along the X-line and applies Y-line compensation, which matters on long runs where media can drift. Barcode job recognition lets the cutter identify and load the correct cut file automatically, so an operator can print a full roll of mixed jobs and let the cutter sort them out.   Quick Answer: Drag knife cutting is the most common method in the market — precise, efficient, and more affordable than tangential systems for low-to-mid volume work. What's the difference between drag knife and tangential cutting? A drag knife swivels freely in its holder and is pulled through the material, following the cut path. It's the most widely used technology in the sign and graphics market, and it excels at vinyl, films, and standard adhesive media. Tangential cutters actively rotate the blade before each direction change, which helps on very thick or stiff materials but adds cost and complexity. For the low-to-mid volume environments the S One Series targets, drag knife delivers the accuracy needed at a substantially lower investment.   Quick Answer: FlexCut cuts completely through the media so pieces come off the roll finished, with no separate trimming step. What is FlexCut and when would I use it? FlexCut is Summa's cut-through function. Rather than kiss cutting — where the blade scores only the vinyl and leaves the liner intact — FlexCut passes through the full material so the finished piece separates from the sheet. It's useful for cardstock signage, hang tags, shaped prints, and any job where the customer receives an individual cut piece rather than a decal on a liner. The D60's 600 g maximum knife pressure supports cut-through on media up to 0.010 inches thick.   Quick Answer: Canon adhesive vinyl, durable matte film, luster, and repositionable peel-n-stick are all compatible with the S One D60. What Canon media works with the Summa S One D60? Canon lists adhesive vinyl, durable matte film, luster, and repositionable peel-n-stick among compatible media, along with other options in the imagePROGRAF media portfolio. Any media you select should fall within the D60's 0.002 to 0.010 inch thickness range and 3.2 to 26 inch width range. If you're planning a specific application — floor graphics, window clings, outdoor decals — TAVCO can help match printer, media, and cutter settings before you commit to a roll purchase.   Quick Answer: The D60 connects by Ethernet, USB, or WiFi and runs on standard 100-240 VAC power in a 38.2 × 16 × 12 inch footprint. What do I need to set up a Summa S One D60 in my shop? A bench or stand that supports the 38.2 × 16 × 12 inch cutter, a standard wall outlet, and a network connection — Ethernet, USB, or WiFi, whichever fits your environment. You'll also want a workstation running the bundled GoSign and ImagePrint R.E.D. software. Plan for clear space in front of and behind the unit so media can feed and exit freely during long tracking runs. TAVCO provides installation and operator training throughout Texas.   Quick Answer: The D60 is designed as a companion to Canon imagePROGRAF large-format printers, adding contour cutting to an existing print workflow. Do I need a Canon imagePROGRAF printer to use the S One D60? No — the D60 is a standalone cutter and will contour cut any printed media that falls within its size and thickness specifications. That said, Canon positions the S One Series specifically to complement imagePROGRAF large-format printers, and the bundled ImagePrint R.E.D. software is built around that pairing. Shops already running an imagePROGRAF TM, GP, or PRO series printer get the most direct benefit, since print and cut steps share media, registration marks, and workflow.
