Sugarlands Orange Squeeze Moonshine 750ML

Sugarlands Orange Squeeze Moonshine 750ML is a flavored Tennessee moonshine bottled at 25% ABV (50 proof) in a 750ml jar. Launched in July 2024 through a collaboration with rock band O.A.R., this expression captures the nostalgic flavor profile of classic orange soda, balanced against Sugarlands' corn-based moonshine. Quick Facts: ABV: 25% (50 Proof)  |  Origin: Gatlinburg, Tennessee  |  Flavored Moonshine  |  Distillery: Sugarlands Distilling Company Production & Heritage Sugarlands Distilling Company operates out of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains — a region with deep roots in American moonshine tradition. Master Distiller Greg Eidam led development of Orange Squeeze, describing the goal as capturing "the vibrant, tangy taste of orange soda" and balancing it with the distillery's moonshine base. While the distillery has not disclosed the specific mashbill or still type used for this expression, Sugarlands has earned recognition across its broader portfolio, including Best Whiskey at the 2019 American Craft Spirits Association Awards and Double Gold Medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2021 and 2023 for their Roaming Man Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey. Tasting Notes Aroma: Bright, lively citrus dominates the nose immediately, with the unmistakable scent of ripe oranges front and center. A light dusting of sugar and a faint whisper of spirit round out the opening. Taste: The palate opens with sweet, juicy orange that closely mirrors freshly squeezed fruit. Mid-palate introduces a pleasant tart citrus counterpoint that prevents the sweetness from becoming one-dimensional. At its peak, the balance between sugary sweetness and tangy orange is reminiscent of a well-made orange soda, carried by a clean, smooth spirit backbone. Finish: Light and refreshing, with a crisp exit that avoids any cloying quality. A gentle orange aftertaste lingers pleasantly without overstaying its welcome. How to Drink Orange Squeeze At 50 proof, Orange Squeeze is approachable chilled straight from the jar or poured over crushed ice on a warm afternoon. Its lower ABV and pronounced citrus character also make it a natural cocktail ingredient. Try it in a Moonshine Mimosa — the orange flavor pairs seamlessly with sparkling wine for a brunch twist. It works well in a Creamsicle Float by combining it with vanilla ice cream and a splash of cream soda for a boozy dessert drink. A Sunset Mule — Orange Squeeze with ginger beer and a squeeze of fresh lime — gives the classic Moscow Mule a bright citrus overhaul. Best For Summer gatherings and outdoor cookouts where easy-drinking, crowd-friendly spirits shine Introducing friends to moonshine who prefer sweeter, fruit-forward flavors over raw white whiskey Building a home bar section dedicated to flavored American spirits Fans of the band O.A.R. looking for the limited-edition collaboration packaging Frequently Asked Questions What does Orange Squeeze taste like? Orange Squeeze delivers a sweet-tart citrus profile that closely resembles freshly squeezed oranges blended with the nostalgic flavor of classic orange soda. The moonshine base adds mild warmth, but the overall experience is smooth, bright, and refreshing. How does Orange Squeeze compare to Ole Smoky moonshine? Both Sugarlands and Ole Smoky are Gatlinburg, Tennessee–based moonshine distilleries with extensive flavored lineups, making them the most direct competitors in the category. Orange Squeeze at 50 proof sits in a similar ABV range to many Ole Smoky flavored expressions, though its specific orange soda–inspired profile gives it a distinct identity within the flavored moonshine space. Is Orange Squeeze good for cocktails? Its 25% ABV and pronounced orange sweetness make it an excellent mixer that adds citrus flavor without requiring additional sweetener or juice. It blends easily into sparkling drinks, creamy dessert cocktails, and ginger beer–based serves. Where is Orange Squeeze made? Orange Squeeze is produced by Sugarlands Distilling Company in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, situated at the gateway to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The distillery draws on the Appalachian moonshine-making heritage of East Tennessee. What foods pair well with Orange Squeeze? Grilled shrimp or fish tacos complement the citrus notes naturally. Vanilla bean cheesecake echoes the creamsicle quality of the spirit. Spicy Thai noodles benefit from the sweetness as a cooling contrast. Dark chocolate with candied orange peel mirrors the orange flavor directly. Light fruit salads with a drizzle of Orange Squeeze make an easy boozy dessert. What sizes does Orange Squeeze come in? Orange Squeeze is available in the standard 750ml jar, which is the primary format currently offered by Sugarlands for this expression. Is Orange Squeeze worth the price? Orange Squeeze positions as an accessible, entry-level flavored moonshine that competes in the everyday spirits tier rather than the premium or collectible segment. For drinkers who enjoy fruit-flavored spirits and want a versatile bottle for both sipping and mixing, it represents solid value in its category. Why Orange Squeeze? What separates Orange Squeeze from the crowded field of flavored moonshines is its deliberate orange soda–inspired flavor architecture, developed under Master Distiller Greg Eidam's direction to hit a specific sweet-tart balance rather than simply adding generic citrus flavoring to a base spirit. The O.A.R. collaboration adds a cultural dimension uncommon in the moonshine category, with special edition packaging featuring the band. At 50 proof, it occupies a practical middle ground — strong enough to stand as a spirit, approachable enough to drink chilled without dilution. For anyone building out a flavored moonshine collection or looking for a Tennessee-made citrus spirit that sidesteps the harsher edges of higher-proof white whiskey, this expression fills a clear niche.
