Sugarcane Plant

Sugarcane is a tall, tropical, clump-forming perennial grass. The plant features thick, fibrous, jointed stalks composed of distinct segments or internodes where sucrose naturally accumulates. From its stalks, long, sword-shaped leaves sprout with sharp edges. Beyond its legendary global role as the source of most of the world's sugar, ethanol, and molasses, sugarcane is widely used in warm-climate landscaping to create striking, exotic accents or vibrant tropical garden borders   Botanical Name   Saccharum officinarum  Also Known As   Sugar Cane | 甘蔗 | 糖蔗 | 拔地拉 Specifications Plant Type   Native From   USDA Zone   Light Needs   Watering Needs   Leaves   Life Cycle   Avg.
