Chrome Chalcedony Marquise Earring Pair

This material comes from the Pilbara region of Western Australia, mined by Glenn Archer, who has spent years pulling material from this remote stretch of outback country. The chromium responsible for the color formed within ancient ultramafic rock, some of the oldest exposed earth on the planet, giving the stone its rich, earthy green tones. Unlike the more uniform glow typical of chrome chalcedony from other localities, this Australian material tends toward a layered, landscape-like character — deep forest green fading into soft sage and pale celadon, threaded with cream and warm rust-toned matrix that reads like sediment lines through stone. Natural internal fracture lines are common in this material and add to its organic, one-of-a-kind character rather than detract from it.
