Styrian Goldings

Continental Elegance • White Pepper and Flowers • Belgian and English Favorite Styrian Goldings is Slovenia's most famous hop — despite the name, a regional selection of Fuggle that developed its own refined identity in the Savinja Valley. It is prized for a delicate, distinctly continental aroma of earth, flowers, and white pepper that has made it a quiet essential in both English ales and classic Belgian brewing. With an alpha acid content of 5%, Styrian Goldings contributes soft, well-mannered bitterness, though its real value lies in late additions where its gentle spice and floral lift come through. Flavor & Aroma Profile Fine earthy base notes Delicate floral aroma Distinctive white pepper spice Soft herbal undertones Smooth, gentle bitterness Used modestly it adds quiet refinement to malt- or yeast-driven beers; pushed late in the boil, the peppery-floral character emerges and complements expressive Belgian fermentations beautifully. Brewing ApplicationsStyrian Goldings is a staple ingredient in many European styles, including: Belgian Saison Belgian Dubbel and Tripel Extra Special Bitter (ESB) English Pale Ale Belgian Blonde Ale English Porter It also shines as the finishing hop over a neutral bittering charge in any beer that wants European character without noble-lager delicacy. Usage RecommendationsFor a 5 gallon batch, use 1–1.5 oz at 60 minutes and 0.5–1 oz in the final 15 minutes or at flameout. Lower late rates leave room for yeast character — ideal in saisons — while heavier finishing additions bring the floral white-pepper signature to the front of the glass. Pair it with a peppery saison yeast for a layered spice profile, or use it alongside East Kent Goldings in English ales for added continental polish.
