Strawberry Thief Blanket

Capture the Whimsical Charm of Victorian Heritage in Every Stitch Indulge in the timeless allure of William Morris with the Strawberry Thief Knitted Blanket Kit, a masterful collaboration between West Yorkshire Spinners and the William Morris Society. Inspired by Morris's iconic 1883 textile design—depicting playful thrushes pilfering ripe strawberries from his Kelmscott Manor garden—this kit transforms the intricate indigo-dyed print into a stunning knitted heirloom. Vibrant birds perch amid tumbling berries and lush foliage, rendered through elegant panels of intarsia and stranded colorwork that evoke the Arts & Crafts movement's celebration of nature and craftsmanship. Drape it over your sofa for a cozy focal point, or gift it as a luxurious layer that tells a story with every glance. At the heart of this kit is West Yorkshire Spinners Morris DK yarn, a premium DK-weight blend of three exquisite British fleeces: lustrous Bluefaced Leicester for silky sheen, resilient Bluefaced Kerry Hill for enduring softness, and rustic Masham for textured depth. This 100% wool yarn offers buttery drape, machine-washable ease (30°C gentle cycle, dry flat), and a palette of Victorian-inspired hues that bloom with depth—think inky indigos, blushing pinks, and verdant greens. With approximately 113 yards (104m) per 50g ball and a gauge of 22 stitches over 4 inches on US 6 (4mm) needles, it knits up to a generous 32.8 x 32.8 inches, perfect for snuggling under year-round. Kit Contents: 14 balls of Morris DK yarn (total 700g): Precisely curated shades including Blackthorn, Strawberry, Marigold, Yew, Hyacinth and Rose for authentic motif reproduction. You can find the pattern here. This kit isn't just supplies; it's an invitation to channel Morris's revolutionary spirit, blending historical artistry with modern luxury. Whether you're a colorwork enthusiast or a devotee of heritage designs, the Strawberry Thief Blanket will become a cherished staple, whispering tales of stolen fruits and feathered mischief.
