Tactical skills and the art of calculation can be improved by regular practice, standard endgame position can be memorized. But how can one enhance strategic understanding and methodical play? In the video course "Strategy - Step by Step", Rustam has carefully selected games from his own practice which were dominated by positional and strategic themes. The author illustrates these with extensive explanation that will clarify in your mind how grandmasters make decisions. He shows how the game plan is determined at an early stage and then, ideally, pursued in the middlegame. While doing this Kasimdzhanov not only explains with fascinating simplicity what makes particular moves so strong, but also why other continuations are insufficient. At the end of this entertaining course you will be familiar with many positional elements such as; open lines, strong and weak squares, pawn chains, isolated pawns, space advantages, pawn majorities, hanging pawns etc and you will be ready to use this knowledge in your own games.
