Applications: – Smoke Control: Effective in smoke partitions to stop the passage of smoke, enhancing safety. – Noise Control: Helps reduce sound transmission through wall openings, improving occupant privacy and comfort. – Infectious/Dust Control: Limits the transmission of dust and other airborne particulates, ensuring cleaner indoor environments. Features & Benefits: – Economical: STI Smoke and Sound provides high performance without a high price tag. – Water Resistant: Once dry, it does not re-emulsify. – Flexibility: Remains flexible to allow for movement, adapting to various installation conditions. – Safety and Environmental Compliance: Contains no solvents, asbestos, PCBs, or inorganic fibers, making it safe for indoor use and environmentally friendly. – Acoustical Properties: Acoustically tested to reduce noise transmission. – LEED Compliant: Meets requirements for LEED v3, v4, & v4.1 for low emitting materials. Performance: STI Smoke and Sound Sealant features excellent color stability and resistance to UV rays, ozone, and airborne contaminants. It is also mildew resistant and meets Class A requirements for flame spread and smoke development per ASTM E84 standards. The sealant provides significant air leakage control as tested under UL1479 and UL2079, demonstrating its efficacy in maintaining air-tight barriers. Usage and Limitations: While versatile, it should not be used in the presence of exposed or energized electrical conductors due to its conductivity when wet. It is compatible with many types of plastic pipes and cables, though checking with manufacturers for material sensitivities is recommended. Maintenance: STI Smoke and Sound Sealant normally requires no maintenance, but periodic inspections of rated barriers are advised to ensure integrity, especially after modifications or damage.
