Stamped with maker's mark. 3.75" L About Patrick Orbe Patrick Orbe is a well-known East Coast art dealer, specializing in late 19th and early 20th century paintings and historically accurate framing. In fact one piece Patrick framed hangs in the Louvre. Patrick is a collector at heart and has also spent years compiling a collection of vintage silver. When we visited Patrick in June, we were lucky to be invited to shop his private collection of silver and sterling pieces. About Sterling Silver Sterling silver has been treasured for centuries for its quiet beauty, remarkable durability, and ability to improve with age. By definition, sterling is an alloy containing 92.5% pure silver, with the remaining 7.5% typically copper, added to give the metal the strength needed for everyday use. Unlike silver plate, sterling is solid silver all the way through. It develops a soft patina over time that many collectors prize, but it can also be polished back to a brilliant luster whenever you prefer. Small scratches, signs of use, and even gentle tarnish become part of its story, making each piece feel more personal with every passing year. Whether it's a well-balanced serving spoon, a pair of elegant sugar tongs, or a favorite teaspoon used every morning, sterling silver was made to be enjoyed rather than tucked away. With only occasional care, it can serve generations, becoming one of those increasingly rare possessions that grows more meaningful—and often more beautiful—with age.
