Step Offstage

A Novel Mimi struggles with everything. She’s shy about her height — or lack thereof. She gets awful grades even though she studies a lot. And her greatest dream, of landing a lead role in the school play, is just that: a dream. The role is given to her best friend Yaeli. The girl who already has it all — the one who aces tests without glancing at her notes. The one who doesn’t need the starring role in order to feel good about herself. And the one whom no one can get mad at — because she’s always so sweet and modest about her accomplishments. Seems like Mimi was already given a role — she’s the professional tagalong to everything. Rikki is eager to prove herself when legendary play producer Naama Klohr, gives her the chance of a lifetime. But as deadlines pass and hopes are dashed, Rikki isn’t sure she’s cut out to be a director after all. Maybe she’s not good enough to do anything! Star of the show Yael is also determined to prove her worth — to the one person whose support she needs the most. So why is she sneaking off to rehearsals like a thief? Why won’t she tell her mother she’s the lead? On stage and off, will they ever be good enough? Step Offstage. A debut novel for teens by Miri Segal
