The yellow brass bell with Shepherd’s crook provides a warm, colorful tone. It has a fixed 1st valve saddle and 3rd slide ring to encourage proper habits for correcting intonation tendencies. Smaller and more compact than a trumpet, the cornet is more comfortable to handle for a young student. The BCR1230 Cornet is an excellent option for the beginner in developing a strong foundation in brass concepts. A lacquer finished cornet is the first choice recommended for beginners. Lacquer is a clear epoxy coating applied in the final finishing process to protect the natural finish of the brass. The tone is warm, clear, and focused.
