ST1472 = Green Mounted Grinding Stone Knife Edge (pkg/3)

Green Silicon Carbide Grinding Points – Fine Grit Sometimes you need to remove a little metal. Sometimes you need to remove quite a bit. Either way, a good grinding point makes the job considerably easier. These Green Silicon Carbide Grinding Points are made with fine-grit silicon carbide abrasive, a hard, sharp-cutting material that's particularly effective for grinding, shaping, and refining hard or difficult-to-work surfaces. Unlike conventional steel burs, which remove material with cutting teeth, silicon carbide grinding points use thousands of abrasive grains to gradually wear away the surface. As the point wears during use, fresh abrasive is exposed, helping maintain its grinding action. They're especially useful for smoothing rough surfaces, refining contours, removing small imperfections, and preparing metal for subsequent finishing and polishing. The fine grit provides a more controlled finish than coarse grinding stones while still removing material efficiently. Silicon carbide is also well suited for working on porcelain, gold and silver alloys, and other hard materials, making these points useful for a variety of jewelry-making, repair, and finishing applications. Features * Fine-grit silicon carbide abrasive * Hard, sharp-cutting abrasive for effective material removal * Suitable for grinding, shaping, contouring, and surface refinement * Abrasive construction exposes fresh cutting particles as the point wears * Useful on precious-metal alloys, porcelain, and other suitable materials * Helps smooth rough surfaces and prepare work for finer finishing * 3/32" (2.35mm) shank fits standard flex shaft and micromotor handpieces * Recommended operating speed: 8,000–12,000 RPM * Available in a variety of shapes for different grinding applications FDJ Tip: Grinding stones are for removing material, not producing a final polish. Use a light touch, keep the point moving, and follow up with finer abrasives or polishing tools as needed. And remember that even fine-grit silicon carbide can remove metal surprisingly quickly, especially when you're working on a spot you only intended to touch up. Shape: Knife edge Size: 4.4 x 13.1mm
