Spurgeon On Christ -October 2014

“If Christ is not all to you He is nothing to you. He will never go into partnership as a part-savior of men. If He is something, He must be everything, and if He is not everything, He is nothing to you” (Charles H. Spurgeon). Spurgeon, the “prince of preachers,” believed that no sermon should ever be preached without Christ at the beginning, middle, and end. Here are some more of his thoughts about Christ: “The Spirit of God bears no witness to Christ-less sermons. Leave Jesus out of your preaching, and the Holy Spirit will never come upon you. Why should He? Has He not come on purpose that He may testify of Christ? Did not Jesus say, ‘He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you’? Yes, the subject was Christ, and nothing but Christ, and such is the teaching which the Spirit of God will own. Be it ours never to wander from this central point: may we determine to know nothing among men but Christ and His cross.” “He bequeaths us His manger from which to learn how God came down to man, and His cross to teach us how man may go up to God.” “Love for God is obedience; love for God is holiness. To love God and to love man is to be conformed to the image of Christ, and this is salvation.” Learn about Christ from Charles H. Spurgeon.
