Sprite with Cube Statue by Frank Lloyd Wright

The Sprite with Cubes is a striking reproduction of one of Frank Lloyd Wright's iconic sculptures, originally designed for the Midway Gardens, a grand entertainment complex built in Chicago in 1914. Wright collaborated with sculptor Alfonso Iannelli to create a series of "sprites "elongated, abstract figures meant to adorn the gardens and enhance the overall architectural aesthetic. These statues were integral to Wright's vision of blending art with architecture, creating a unified and harmonious environment where every element, from the buildings to the decorative pieces, contributed to the overall experience. The Sprite with Cubes stands 14 inches high and is made of durable design resin, meticulously replicating the clean lines and geometric forms characteristic of Wright's work. The figure features a serene and contemplative expression, with cubes resting on the figure's shoulders, symbolizing Wright's fascination with geometric abstraction and his desire to integrate form, function, and symbolism into his designs. The angular shapes of the cubes and the elongated figure create a sense of both stability and grace, reflecting Wright's architectural philosophy of organic balance. The original sprites were destroyed when Midway Gardens was demolished in 1929. Explore other Sculptures and Statues by Frank Lloyd Wright
