Mud Mix

Mud Mix: The Perfect Nesting Material for Mason Bees! Female mason bees are meticulous nest builders, crafting the walls of their nesting chambers from clay-rich mud to create individual spaces for each baby bee. To ensure their offspring are safe from predators, they seal the chambers with a thick mud end-cap, protecting the next generation of pollinators until they emerge the following spring. Why Mud Matters: Mud is vital for mason bee reproduction—females won't nest without a nearby, reliable source of mud (within 25 sq. ft.). Not all mud is suitable! Mason bees prefer clay-rich mud with a texture similar to modeling clay. The Perfect Clay-Mud Solution: Our Mason Bee Mud Mix is specially formulated to provide the ideal texture and consistency that mason bees need for successful nesting. Unlike ordinary dirt or wet clay, this mix is crafted to meet the unique requirements of mason bees.
