Spelt Flour, Organic

Spelt flour is an ancient grain flour with a mildly sweet, nutty flavor and a hint of earthiness. It has a unique, slightly tangy undertone that adds complexity to both sweet and savory baked goods. Its texture is lighter and softer compared to whole wheat flour, making it an excellent choice for breads, cakes, cookies, and pastries. Spelt flour can be used as a direct substitute for all-purpose or whole wheat flour in many recipes, though it has a lower gluten content, which can lead to a more tender crumb. It is often favored in artisanal baking due to its rich flavor profile and health benefits, including higher protein and fiber content compared to regular wheat flour. Spelt is particularly suited for rustic breads, pizza dough, pancakes, and biscuits. Its versatility extends to pasta and even as a thickener in sauces.
