SPEED SENSOR TESTER (SST)

Jaltest SST Speed Sensor Tester (SKU 50004002) — $345 The Jaltest SST (Speed Sensor Tester, part 50004002, $345) is a portable, compact device for verifying the correct operation of active and passive speed sensors on commercial trucks, construction equipment, and agricultural machinery. Per the official Cojali/Jaltest pricelist, it operates in two modes — testing the sensor itself and testing the ECU input it connects to — and uses an LED indicator panel to display results clearly. This tool substantially reduces the time spent on speed sensor fault diagnosis by giving technicians a definitive pass/fail result at the sensor level, without substituting parts or setting up an oscilloscope. Two Operating Modes Sensor test mode: Directly tests the speed sensor's output to confirm whether the sensor itself is generating a correct signal ECU test mode: Tests the ECU input to which the sensor is connected, to confirm whether the problem is in the ECU side of the circuit rather than the sensor itself This two-mode approach eliminates the most common diagnostic dead-end: replacing a sensor that tests fine because the ECU input is the actual fault, or condemning an ECU when the sensor was the problem all along. Active and Passive Sensor Coverage Active speed sensors (Hall effect, magneto-resistive) — standard on modern ABS wheel speed applications and most current transmission speed sensors Passive speed sensors (variable reluctance/VR) — common on older ABS systems, driveshafts, and wheel ends Common Applications ABS wheel speed sensor diagnosis on Class 4-8 trucks and trailers Transmission input and output shaft speed sensor verification Driveshaft and axle speed sensor testing on construction and agricultural equipment Pre-parts-ordering confirmation to verify which component is actually faulty Post-repair verification that a newly installed sensor is producing the correct output Why This Tool Saves Time and Money Without a dedicated speed sensor tester, confirming a wheel speed sensor fault means either substituting a new sensor (time and parts cost) or setting up scope testing (time and equipment). The SST delivers a definitive result in minutes, at the wheel end, without removing anything. The LED display makes the result clear even in low-light shop conditions. For a shop that diagnoses ABS, transmission, or driveline codes regularly, the SST pays for itself quickly in saved diagnostic time.
