Spectrum 5 Collagen

If you want to level up your collagen game, look no further than Spectrum 5 Collagen™. My famous Collagen Protein has gained a worldwide following of tens of thousands of people for good reason — consuming a pure, grass-fed, real food source of high-quality collagen peptides can have dramatic effects on the appearance of your skin, the strength and shine of your hair and nails, as well as the overall structural integrity of your gut lining — not to mention collagen directly supports your joints and has an anabolic (growth) effect on your cartilage! Spectrum 5 delivers the exact same collagen peptides as my original formula PLUS 3 additional premium types for total-body support:  4 Real Food Sources: Look Inside Spectrum 5 Collagen™  Hydrolyzed Marine Collagen Peptides The sustainably sourced marine collagen in Spectrum 5 comes from wild-caught cod, pollock, and haddock from cold, deep Canadian waters. Taking marine collagen enhances the appearance of smoother and firmer skin, boosts elasticity and hydration, and encourages rapid skin cell repair and renewal. Hydrolyzed Eggshell Membrane Collagen Peptides Eggs naturally hold collagen in their inner and outer membranes, BUT there’s a problem: cooking eggs denatures their collagen, making it less absorbable to humans. Taking an eggshell membrane collagen supplement is the best way to get the hair, skin, and joint-nourishing collagen types V & X abundant in eggs. Spectrum 5 goes one step further by boasting USA-bred, cage-free, free-range, hormone-free chicken eggshell collagen. Hydrolyzed Chicken Collagen Peptides The avian collagen in Spectrum 5 comes from American free-range, cage-free, cruelty-free, hormone-free, happy chickens. Chicken collagen is incredibly rich in rare and crucial type II collagen, which directly targets your joints, connective tissues, and cartilage to restore a healthy and smooth, lubricated range of motion.   Hydrolyzed Bovine Collagen Peptides The gold standard on the collagen market today, Spectrum 5’s hydrolyzed bovine peptides (types I & III) are exactly the same as those in my wildly popular original Collagen Protein. This collagen infuses your body with immediate gut lining support to help repair leaky gut, beautifies your hair, skin, and nails, and provides fast relief from occasional joint discomfort due to exercise or overuse.  How to Use  Spectrum 5 Collagen™ is flavorless and odorless, so it can be easily mixed with anything, with no clumping! FAQs What is Collagen?  Collagen is an insoluble and fibrous protein that makes up one-third of the protein in the human body. Your body synthesizes Collagen from special amino acids found in various foods. Our bodies also need certain minerals and vitamin C to manufacture collagen. Spectrum 5 Collagen™ comes from pasture-raised cows that are grass-fed, and never given GMO feed or antibiotics; wild-caught, sustainably sourced whitefish from the cold, deep waters of Canada; and free-range, cage-free, hormone-free USA chickens. Why is it important to use hydrolyzed Collagen? Dietary collagen is difficult to digest and not very absorbable. It also mixes poorly into liquids. Hydrolyzing collagen involves breaking up the difficult to digest proteins into easily digested peptides, or chains of beneficial amino acids. This ensures far greater absorption and bioavailability. Hydrolyzing collagen also guarantees that it mixes easily into hot or cold beverages without clumping! What time of day should I take Spectrum 5 Collagen™?  Spectrum 5 Collagen™ can be taken any time, day or night. I like to mix a scoop or two into my morning smoothie or add it to my hot tea before bed. It really helps support restful sleep! How long should I take Spectrum 5 Collagen™?  Spectrum 5 Collagen™ can be used indefinitely for best results. Many of my patients take Collagen every day and have done so for years! Is it safe for my child to take Spectrum 5 Collagen™?  Spectrum 5 Collagen™ is safe for most kids, so long as they do not have a legitimate beef, chicken, fish, or egg allergy. Collagen can help kids grow strong healthy bones and teeth! Although we recommend speaking with your pediatrician before starting any new supplements. Is Spectrum 5 Collagen™ okay to take while pregnant or nursing? Yes. Provided you are not allergic to Collagen protein from beef, chicken, fish, or eggs, or on any prescribed medications that could be contraindicated, or have been advised by your physician not to take collagen for any reason, then Spectrum 5 Collagen™ is safe to use in doses recommended on the product label. If you have any concerns whatsoever, I always recommend speaking with your physician or other qualified healthcare provider. I’ve heard collagen can contain monosodium glutamate (MSG). Does your collagen contain MSG? Absolutely not. Collagen protein generally contains about 11% glutamic acid by weight, which is actually significantly less than beef, poultry, rice protein, and many other foods. Another important fact to be aware of is that almost all of the glutamic acid, a normal amino acid that occurs in most foods we humans eat, is bound in amino acid chains called peptides in Collagen. Very little glutamic acid in Spectrum 5 Collagen™ is in its free form. What is in the free form, is most certainly not chemically bound to sodium to make MSG. In fact, collagen contains less processed free glutamic acid than orange juice, honey, grapefruit and lemon juice, and even breast milk. To summarize, there is no MSG in Spectrum 5 Collagen™, and very little free glutamic acid! Is Collagen damaged by heat? All proteins are damaged by high heat to some extent. Proteins are long chains of amino acids bound together. High heat can potentially fold and warp the amino acid chains into new shapes and structures called amines that may be unusable by the body, or even harmful. This is why you should avoid charring or overcooking meat. The proteins and peptides in my Spectrum 5 Collagen™ are quite stable at moderately high temps, so adding it to a hot cup of tea or coffee, or baking it at low temps (below 300 degrees) will not denature it too much. How does Spectrum 5 Collagen™ differ from Dr. Myers’ Collagen Protein, and can I take both together? Short answer: YES! You can absolutely take both (I do every day!). Spectrum 5 Collagen™ delivers 8 g of 5 types of collagen from 4 real food sources in each serving: types I, II, III, V, and X, derived from wild-caught Canadian fish, free-range USA chickens, and grass-fed cows. My original Collagen Protein delivers a potent 11 g dose of types I & III collagen from 1 food source only — grass-fed cows. The robust amino acid profile of both support your own body’s ability to synthesize Collagen, which is your body’s primary structural protein. Collagen is essential for a healthy gut lining, strong hair, skin, and nails, connective tissue, and much much more! How come there are fewer scoops in my pouch than the number listed on the label? The listed amount of scoops per pouch is an approximation and can vary based on personal use such as how full you make your scoops, spilling it, how well you scrape out the pouch, etc. While the number listed is an approximation, it shouldn't vary considerably versus what you get.
