This charming Valencian orange crate label transforms commercial ephemera into nautical whimsy. A young sailor perches in a ship's crow's nest, telescope raised, scanning horizons as seagulls wheel around him. Below, sun-ripened oranges with delicate blossoms anchor the composition, the fruit rendered with appetizing realism against a brilliant cerulean sky. Produced for the Luis Beso company of Valencia, the label plays on its brand name: 'Mastil' is Spanish for mast, the vertical spar from which the boy surveys his domain. The imagery suggests oranges shipped to distant shores, adventure and quality intertwined. The vivid chromolithography by Valencia's S. Durá printing house showcases the technical excellence of Spanish commercial printing. A standout piece for collectors of vintage advertising ephemera, citrus crate labels, or nautical imagery. The combination of playful illustration and bold graphic design captures the optimism of Spain's economic resurgence in the late 1960s. Size: 8.25" x 10.25" Condition: Very Good, Age-appropriate wear. Paper toning in accordance with the print's age. Marks/stains as per photo. Wear around the edges and minor paper loss might be present in some prints. Please refer to each print's image to get a better understanding of the condition.
