For sound, choose a Tsunami2, Blunami or Econami sound decoder. Will it run on my DC power pack? No. This is an MC1 series decoder and is DCC only — it needs a command station. If you need DC too, choose an MC2 series decoder such as the 852002 or 852003. What does the model number mean? MC1Z102SQ breaks down as: MC1 series (DCC only), Z for Z and N scale, 1 amp, 02 function outputs, and the connector type. Will it fit my locomotive? It measures 13 x 9 x 3mm and connects by attached wire harness (“squid cable”). Check that against your locomotive before ordering — the other MC decoders use different connectors and sizes.
