Sounds Fun Phonics - Video

These phonics songs teach word families, phonics rules, and spelling patterns that help kids learn to read through music and movement, so they don’t have to sit still to learn!  These songs help kids learn sh, th, and ch words, too!  It also helps children learn to read words with songs for long vowels spelled with vowel digraphs (vowel teams), such as ea, ee, ai, ay, oa, igh, and the final e or “Bossy E” spelling rule.  Also included are songs for the diphthongs oi, oy, ou, ow, au, aw, and also the r-controlled vowels ar, er, ir, and ur.  Kids with ADD, ADHD, autism, and other special needs learn particularly well with these songs and videos because they are active, fun, and the music makes them stick in long term memory, like an “earworm” you just can’t forget!  In addition to basic phonics skills, these videos help kids develop phonemic awareness and the alphabetic principle via the new “Sound it Out” section that has been added into this animated version!  In this section, kids learn to blend the sounds and segment (split up) the words into sounds as they learn to read them- all at the same time!  The videos can be watched digitally on internet video or on DVD, and the songs can be purchased here on CD or on iTunes.  The phonics videos and songs are just one part of the total Sounds Fun Phonics system that is even MORE effective when used as a whole set.  The Sounds Fun Combo includes EVERYTHING you need to help teach kids basic phonics and reading skills for $55, including the DVD, CD, flash cards .pdf and printed poster.  As parents and teachers know, a strong understanding of phonics is essential for children who are learning to read. These phonics songs and resources help to reinforce some of the most common letter combinations, word families, and spelling patterns through engaging music and movement. The music helps reinforce these basic phonics rules so that children can learn to read, write, and spell quickly and easily. We recommend using the videos in combination with the matching Sounds Fun Phonics resources for the most effective instructional outcome.   Phonics Spelling Patterns covered include: Ai/Ay-Hooray, Ar-Pirate, Au/Aw-Caw, Ch-Choo Choo, Ea/Ee-Whee, Er/Ir/Ur-Tiger, Ew-Monster, Igh-Sailor, Ing-King, Ink-Pink Ink, Oa-Tummy Ache, Oi/Oy-Piggy, Oo-Monkey, Or-Dinosaur, Ou/Ow-Howl, Sh-Quiet Girl, Th-Blowing Raspberries, Unk-Skunk, plus these basic phonics rules: Bossy E, Magic Y, Vowel Walk Sounds Fun Phonics DVD - Deluxe - $25 (Save $10) • Sounds Fun Phonics DVD -PLUS the following Printable Downloads- • Sounds Fun Phonics Vols. 1 & 2 Word Family Coloring Worksheets • Sounds Fun Phonics Word Building Kit • PLUS Bonus Freebies!  Sounds Fun Phonics DVD - Premium - $40 (Save $23) • Sounds Fun Phonics DVD -PLUS the following Printable Downloads- • Sounds Fun Phonics Vols. 1 & 2 Word Family Coloring Worksheets • Sounds Fun Phonics Word Building Kit • Sounds Fun Phonics Vol. 1 & 2 Workbooks  • Sounds Fun Phonics Bingo Game  • Sounds Fun Phonics Bang! Game  • PLUS Bonus Freebies! Here's how it works: The picture cue triggers the memory of a movement that goes with the sound of each combination of letters. When the children are drilled with the flash cards and are asked to respond physically and verbally, they will remember more quickly than without the visual-kinesthetic element. For example, the flashcard that goes with the “sh” sound spelling pattern has a little girl that is holding one finger up in front of her mouth to show the /sh/ sound. When children see this, they mimic the movement and then make the sound. Many of our customers have been happy with our Vimeo streaming options, that offer a 12 month rental for as little as $6.99 a year.  One nagging issue with Vimeo streaming is that all the songs are combined in a single movie, and finding individual songs can be a challenge. The Vimeo player app allows you to scroll along the timeline to find the song you want, and we’ve added timecode tags to help find each song, but it’s not ideal for some teachers! Vimeo has not updated it’s services to improve this situation, so we are recommending UScreen for ease of use in the classroom! Even so, we've had wonderful feedback from our Vimeo customers, so you might want to check it out to compare features for yourself. ©Heidi Butkus - All HeidiSongs materials, including CDs, DVDs, streaming media, printable files and printed books, are for use in ONE classroom.
