Sony UP-X899MD B&W Thermal Paper Sony introduces the UP-X899MD, an A6 black-and-white hybrid printer built for ultrasound, endoscopy, and other medical imaging workflows. As the direct successor to the UP-X898MD, it keeps the same compact hybrid design while adding faster print speeds, sharper image accuracy, and a redesigned control panel. Like its predecessor, the UP-X899MD supports both analog video (BNC) and digital USB connections, so it drops into existing ultrasound carts and imaging systems without requiring a full workflow overhaul. A Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Type-C port lets technicians automatically save printed still images to a connected USB flash drive – no separate capture step required. Sony redesigned the front panel with a white backlit LCD, flat control buttons, and a new joystick for faster menu navigation, and reworked the internal cutter so prints can be trimmed upward or downward – a real advantage when the printer sits underneath the ultrasound console. The result is a printer that’s lighter and more power-efficient than the UP-X898MD while staying fully compatible with the UPP-110 media family already stocked by most ultrasound departments. Highlights: Successor to the UP-X898MD - hybrid analog (BNC) and digital (USB) inputs Automatic USB flash drive capture for printed still images Redesigned front panel with backlit LCD, flat buttons, and joystick control Improved dual cutter cuts upward or downward for below-console installation High-speed printing - approximately 2 seconds per image Uses the same UPP-110 series media as the UP-897/UP-898 series: UPP-110HG, UPP-110HD, UPP-110S Compatible mode driver support for systems already running UP-898MD/UP-897MD Optional UPA-WU10 wireless printing module available Specifications Resolution: 325 DPI, True 256 gray gradation Print Speed: Approx. 2.0 seconds/image (High-Speed Mode) / Approx. 3.8 seconds/image (Normal Speed Mode), at 1280 x 960 dots Interface: Hi-Speed USB 2.0 (Type-C, data) and Analog BNC Video In (NTSC/PAL composite) Printing Method: Direct Thermal Printing Dimensions: Approx. 6.1"(W) x 3.5"(H) x 8.2"(D) / 154 x 88 x 208 mm Weight: Approx. 4.4 lbs (2.0 kg), printer only Power Requirements: AC 100 - 120V / 220 - 240V, 50/60Hz Supported Operating Systems (when connected via USB): Windows 10/11 (32/64-bit), with compatible mode for 898/897-series drivers Compliance: Distributed in the US and EU as a medical device, satisfies IEC 60601-1 Print Media Sony UPP-110HG Sony UPP-110HD Sony UPP-110S/5 Durico ULSTAR-1100HG (Alternative to Sony UPP-110HG) Durico ULSTAR-1100S (Alternative to Sony UPP-110S) ERI-110HG (Alternative to Sony UPP-110HG) ERI-110S (Alternative to Sony UPP-110S)
