Surf Series • Wing Foil • Downwind • High Modulus Carbon • 125 cm² North Sonar Surf S125v3 Stabilizer – 125 cm² A compact, high-performance carbon stabilizer built for fast, loose carving, immediate turn initiation and maximum maneuverability. The North Sonar S125v3 Stabilizer is designed for advanced foilers who want their foil to turn faster, feel looser and respond immediately to rider input. Its compact 125 cm² platform drives snappy rail-to-rail transitions while refined foil sections maintain predictable control across a broad speed range. Developed for surf foiling, wave-focused wing foiling and downwind riding, the S125v3 delivers extra bite through aggressive turns without giving up the stability needed to link sections and recover from surface breaches. 125 cm² stabilizer area Loose, fast turn character Snappy turn initiation Ventilation-resistant tip breaching High Modulus Carbon Prepreg Cover and titanium hardware included Why Choose the Sonar S125v3? Maximum Maneuverability The compact 125 cm² area reduces the stabilizing influence at the tail, allowing the foil to roll and redirect more quickly. The result is a lively setup that responds immediately to changes in foot pressure. Snappy Turn Initiation The S125v3 enters turns without hesitation, helping experienced riders tighten carving lines, redirect between sections and react quickly to changing wave energy. Broad-Speed Predictability Refined foil sections keep the stabilizer composed across a broad speed range. You gain a looser and faster ride without making the foil unexpectedly unstable as speed changes. Extra Bite Through Turns The profile maintains dependable engagement when the rider applies pressure through a carve. This supports aggressive direction changes while retaining enough control to finish the turn cleanly. Surf-Focused Foil Performance Surf Foiling Fast roll response and a compact turning radius help the foil fit into steeper wave faces, redirect through cutbacks and react quickly when the pocket changes. Wing Foiling in Waves The loose tail feel lets advanced wing foilers carve more freely once the wing is flagged or depowered. Its predictable speed range supports transitions between powered riding and wave energy. Downwind Riding Quick turning helps riders react to short-period bumps, change lines and connect moving energy. The small stabilizer favors active riders who prioritize maneuverability over maximum pitch stability. Tip-Breach Recovery The S125v3 is designed to resist ventilation when a stabilizer tip briefly breaches the surface, helping the foil remain composed and re-engage without an abrupt loss of control. North Sonar S125v3 Specifications Specification Detail Ride Effect Model S125v3 Third-generation compact Sonar Surf stabilizer Area 125 cm² Small surface area for reduced drag and fast maneuverability Series Surf Designed for carving, waves and responsive low-speed turns Construction High Modulus Carbon Prepreg Stiff, responsive structure with efficient load transfer Rider Level Advanced Best for riders with confident pitch and foil control Primary Disciplines Surf, wing waves and downwind Optimized for turning response and maneuverability Color Black Matches the North Sonar carbon foil system The “125” in S125v3 refers to the stabilizer’s 125 cm² surface area. It does not mean the stabilizer is 125cm wide. How a 125 cm² Stabilizer Changes Your Foil Faster Roll Response With less stabilizer area resisting movement, the foil can roll from rail to rail more freely. This makes tight carves and rapid direction changes easier for a skilled rider. Less Front-Foot Pressure A smaller stabilizer generally creates less front-foot pressure than a larger rear wing. Riders should expect a more neutral, active stance and may need to adjust mast position or stabilizer angle. Reduced Drag The compact surface area reduces wetted area and drag, supporting a faster, freer foil feel when compared with a larger stabilizer on the same compatible setup. More Active Pitch Control The S125v3 provides less passive pitch support than a larger stabilizer. Advanced riders gain responsiveness, but must control foil height and fore-aft balance more actively. S125v3 vs. a Larger Sonar Stabilizer Stabilizer Choice Ride Character Best For S125v3 Loose, fast and highly responsive with reduced front-foot pressure Maximum Maneuverability Advanced surf, wave and downwind riders Larger Sonar Stabilizer More pitch stability, stronger front-foot pressure and a calmer response Learning, general freeride and riders prioritizing predictable control The S125v3 is not intended to make a foil easier or more stable. Choose it when you already have dependable foil control and want faster turning, less drag and a more active ride. High Modulus Carbon Construction Prepreg Carbon Layup Precisely controlled prepreg carbon construction creates a stiff and responsive stabilizer. The structure transfers rider input efficiently without unnecessary flex delaying the foil’s response. High Modulus Carbon High Modulus fibers provide excellent stiffness for their weight, supporting the immediate turning response and predictable foil-section performance required from such a compact stabilizer. Titanium Mounting Hardware The included M8 x 16mm titanium hardware provides a strong, corrosion-resistant connection between the stabilizer and a compatible North Sonar fuselage. Protective Cover Included A fitted stabilizer cover protects the carbon profile and sharp trailing edge during transport, assembly and storage. Who Is the S125v3 For? Best For Advanced riders with dependable pitch control Surf foilers seeking tighter and faster carving Wing foilers who prioritize wave performance Downwind riders making frequent line changes Riders wanting less front-foot pressure Foilers moving to a smaller, faster rear wing What You’ll Notice Immediate turn initiation Faster rail-to-rail response A looser tail through carves Reduced stabilizer drag Less passive pitch stability Predictable control across changing speeds Sonar Compatibility and Setup Designed for compatible North Sonar foil fuselages. Installs using the included Stabilizer Screw Pack C with M8 x 16mm hardware. Confirm compatibility with your exact fuselage and Sonar component generation. Check that all contact surfaces are clean and undamaged before assembly. Tighten hardware evenly to North’s recommended torque specification. Recheck mast position and stance after changing from a larger stabilizer. Changing stabilizer size can alter pitch balance and front-foot pressure. Make the first test in controlled conditions and allow time to adjust your stance, mast position and foil-height control. What’s Included? Remove sand, salt and debris from the mounting surface before assembly. Inspect the carbon profile, tips and screw holes regularly for damage. Allow the stabilizer to dry before installing the protective cover. Use the supplied cover whenever transporting or storing the stabilizer. Follow North’s current guidance for titanium hardware and threaded connections. Frequently Asked Questions Is the S125v3 stabilizer 125cm wide? No. The 125 designation refers to its 125 cm² surface area. North does not identify this model as having a 125cm wingspan. Is the S125v3 suitable for beginners? No. North recommends it for advanced riders seeking maximum maneuverability. A larger stabilizer provides more pitch stability, front-foot pressure and forgiving control for learning. What disciplines is it designed for? The S125v3 is recommended for surf foiling, wing foiling in waves and downwind riding where fast turn initiation and maneuverability are priorities. How will it feel compared with a larger stabilizer? Expect faster turning, less drag, reduced front-foot pressure and a looser ride. It also provides less passive pitch stability and requires more active foil control. What is the S125v3 made from? It uses High Modulus Carbon Prepreg construction for a stiff, responsive structure with efficient load transfer. Does it include mounting screws? Yes. The package includes Stabilizer Screw Pack C with M8 x 16mm titanium hardware, along with a fitted stabilizer cover.
