SON XS Hub for Brompton Bikes

Precision Hub Dynamo Engineered for Brompton Folding Bikes The SON XS Hub Dynamo is purpose-built for the small wheels and narrow fork of Brompton folding bikes. Manufactured in Tübingen, Germany, it uses an optimized claw-pole generator with elaborately machined sheet metal parts to deliver 6V/3W of reliable lighting power with exceptionally low no-load losses — meaning minimal drag whether your lights are on or off. At just 350 g, it adds almost nothing to your fold weight while giving you consistent, battery-free illumination for every commute and night ride. A proprietary semi-radial spoke pattern keeps the hub compact and elegant while eliminating the audible spoke vibrations that can occur with purely radial lacing on dynamo hubs. High-end SKF bearings sealed on both sides make the hub maintenance-free and long-lasting, and a unique pressure compensation system protects the internals from water ingress in wet riding conditions. The result is a hub that matches the quality and customization Brompton owners expect from every component on their bike. German-Made, Brompton-Specific Optimized claw-pole generator achieves exceptionally low rolling resistance with or without lights engaged. Semi-radial straight-pull spoke pattern developed by SON eliminates spoke vibration while keeping the wheel build compact. Available in 20-slot or 28-slot versions to suit different wheel builds. SKF industrial bearings sealed on both sides deliver maintenance-free, long-life performance. Pressure compensation system provides reliable protection against water ingress in all weather. Precise spoke holes with large countersinks produce stable wheels that hold true after a single initial truing. Robust 4.8 mm spade connectors for secure, professional wiring to SON coaxial cable. Three standard anodized finishes — polished, silver, and black — plus an à la carte configurator with eight centre-part colours (silver, black, red, blue, orange, gold, dark green, pink) to match any Brompton. Also available as a complete pre-built wheel with semi-radial spoke pattern for easy installation. Backed by a 5-year manufacturer guarantee.
