The water went black. A bell rang beneath the surface. The moon changed. Rust appeared along the shoreline. Then the current moved. And still, we looked. Something Below is what was waiting for us. A strange bioluminescent green rises from a smoky darkness, shifting into luminous lavender, soft pink-purple and flashes of icy blue as the light moves across it. At one angle it glows almost impossibly green. At another, the green disappears and something pale, cool and spectral takes its place. It's beautiful. Which somehow makes it worse. We really shouldn't have looked.
