Some Like It Hot Memorabilia

Some Like It Hot Framed Memorabilia — Two Signatures: Jack Lemmon & Tony Curtis This is a signed piece from the greatest comedy film ever made — a professionally framed Some Like It Hot display bearing authenticated signatures from both male leads: Jack Lemmon (Jerry/Daphne) and Tony Curtis (Joe/Josephine). With Jack Lemmon having passed away in June 2001 and Tony Curtis in September 2010, both signatures on this dual-authenticated display are from performers who are no longer with us — making this a permanently sealed piece of Hollywood golden age history that can never be replicated. Both signatures are from performers no longer with us Jack Lemmon — who won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for his role as Jerry/Daphne and delivered one of the great comedic performances of the Hollywood golden age — passed away on June 27, 2001. Tony Curtis — whose Joe/Josephine is one of cinema's most celebrated comic disguises, and who received his only Academy Award nomination for The Defiant Ones (1958) — passed away on September 29, 2010. With both men gone, a dual-authenticated display bearing both their signatures represents a window that has been permanently closed. These two names together on a single piece of Some Like It Hot memorabilia cannot be assembled again. Some Like It Hot — the greatest comedy film ever made Directed by Billy Wilder and released in 1959, Some Like It Hot was voted the greatest comedy film ever made by the American Film Institute in both 2000 and 2012 — a distinction it holds unchallenged. The film follows two jazz musicians — Jerry (Lemmon) and Joe (Curtis) — who disguise themselves as women to escape the mob after witnessing the St. Valentine's Day Massacre, and end up sharing a train with an all-girl band that includes Sugar Kane, played by Marilyn Monroe at the peak of her powers. Jack Lemmon won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical; Tony Curtis was also nominated. The film's final line — "Well, nobody's perfect" — delivered by Joe E. Brown after being told his fiancée is a man, is widely considered the greatest closing line in the history of cinema. More than 65 years after its release, Some Like It Hot has lost none of its sparkle. Lemmon & Curtis — two legends of Hollywood's greatest era Jack Lemmon is one of the most decorated actors in Hollywood history — the only performer to win Academy Awards for both Best Supporting Actor (Mister Roberts, 1955) and Best Actor (Save the Tiger, 1973), with a career that also included acclaimed performances in The Apartment, The Odd Couple, The China Syndrome, Missing, and Glengarry Glen Ross. He received eight Oscar nominations in total and the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award. Tony Curtis appeared in over 100 films across a five-decade career, earning his only Oscar nomination for The Defiant Ones (1958) and delivering iconic performances in Spartacus, Sweet Smell of Success, and Houdini. Their chemistry in Some Like It Hot — honed over weeks of rehearsal in drag — remains one of the great comedic partnerships in film history.
