Solita Tarot

First Edition — Limited to 100 Decks Solita Tarot by Sóla Saar is a rare and compelling debut — a first edition limited to only 100 decks, created at the intersection of contemporary collage art and esoteric tradition. The deck emerged from an expansive studio process. Saar first explored tarot through 92 original analog collages, immersing herself in archetype, myth, and psychological symbolism. From this larger body of work, she carefully selected the final images that form the 78-card structure. The result feels layered and intentional — each card drawn from a broader visual cosmology, The cards are borderless, allowing imagery to extend fully to the edges. This design choice amplifies one of the deck’s most striking qualities: scale. Many compositions unfold within vast landscapes — open skies, sweeping horizons, glacial expanses, desert terrain, and star-filled cosmic fields. Even the Minor Arcana feel expansive and archetypal, their emotional narratives elevated by environment. The spaciousness creates psychological depth, transforming intimate moments into universal mythic scenes. Saar draws from classical mythology, vintage ephemera, Old Hollywood glamour, and the natural world, layering references into compositions that feel both familiar and unexpectedly progressive. At times, the imagery pushes into bold, pop-inflected contrasts — yet the juxtapositions remain intentional and symbolically precise. Nothing feels accidental. Every tension sharpens meaning. Saar’s visual language also embraces the human form without restraint. The deck includes artistic nudity, and at times the imagery can feel provocative — even sensational on first viewing. The body appears as symbol, myth, and psychological landscape, reinforcing themes of desire, vulnerability, power, and transformation. This is a mature, art-forward tarot that will resonate with collectors who appreciate expressive, unapologetic imagery and contemporary reinterpretations of archetype. Astrological correspondences are woven into the structure of the deck and clearly listed in the guidebook for each Major Arcana, offering an additional layer for readers who integrate tarot and astrology into their practice. Beginning with The Fool and culminating in The World, the archetypal journey remains intact — yet the atmosphere feels distinctly contemporary: immersive, introspective, and quietly subversive. The original collages from which this deck was created are currently on view in Sóla Saar: 92 Tarot Collages and a Dollhouse at Walter Maciel Gallery, 2642 S. La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, through March 14, 2026 — offering a rare opportunity to experience the works at full scale. With only 100 copies in this first edition, Solita Tarot stands as both a functional divination tool and a collectible art object — equally at home in a curated library or on the reading table.
