More About the Cube Only a few metalworkers have mastered the wildly colorful Damascus Titanium forging technique. Own a piece of history! Ready to be a Titanium Superhero? The moment I first held a piece of titanium in high school, my life was forever transformed. The powerful connection I felt with this seemingly indestructible metal sparked a newfound passion within me, propelling me from a mediocre student to earning a degree in physics (more about this below) and eventually led me to Kickstarter, where we've raised over $1.2 million with Trance Metals since 2015. "Wow, what in the world is that??"  With the power of Damascus Titanium in your hands, you have the potential to ignite curiosity and spark inspiration in those around you, just like I was inspired so many years ago. Don't underestimate the impact you can make with the mesmerizing beauty of this amazing Damascus Titanium cube. This Immediately solves your problem of a "Boring, uninspired workspace". It will transform your workspace and ignite your creativity and imagination. KILO size shown. 1" size also available Damascus Titanium is a rare and highly sought-after metal that combines titanium alloys of solid Titanium. The unique colors and patterns are created by heating and cooling the layers of titanium alloys at specific temperatures, a process that requires extreme precision and skill. Each cube is micro-etched with a production number. Your Certificate of Authenticity will match your production number Each cube will be completely unique, with an etched serial number that will match your certificate of authenticity.  This is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art that belongs in a museum. A Two-Year Journey When I first learned of the possibility of creating Damascus Titanium metal, it was a totally new process similar to how "modern Damascus" steel is made (as opposed to ancient wootz), but since we're using solid Titanium, a few important and difficult (even dangerous) steps are needed. Titanium Layered Metalworking Damascus Titanium is not just a metal, it's a work of art, a rare and highly sought-after composite metal that is created by layering different titanium alloys, and then heating and cooling them at specific temperatures to achieve mesmerizing patterns and colors. This process, known as "titanium layered metalworking" is not for the faint-hearted. It requires a level of precision, skill, and experience that is found only in a select few metalworkers. This process cannot be accomplished with any oxygen present!  It simply will not work if any air enters the system. That means the use of noble gases or other methods to isolate the titanium layers. It's a very dangerous process that only a few metalworkers in the world have experience with. After cutting the metal to the approximate shape, the same technique that's used in our Ti KILO cube is used to mill the faces square on a CNC machine. The cube is then polished by hand to a high finish in order to showcase the mesmerizing beauty of Damascus Titanium when firing.  Patience is the order of the day. The firing process requires extreme precision and skill, as the timing and temperature must be controlled precisely to achieve the desired pattern. This process requires hours of concentration for a single cube as the temperature change needs to be gradual and precise.   The final product is a one-of-a-kind creation, a unique blend of durability and beauty that showcases the extreme difficulty of making Damascus Titanium. Each KILO Cube or INCH Cube comes with a solid steel display base. What Makes Titanium Special? I have always been fascinated with titanium since I was a child reading about the rareness of the metal used to make the SR-71 spy plane.  In high school, I had a life-changing experience when my physics teacher passed around an earring made from titanium for us each to handle. It was my first time touching this mythical metal, and I was blown away by its strength and lightness. This experience sparked a love for science in me and led me to earn a physics degree.  Years later, inspired by the birth of my son, I started Esington and Trance Metals to reconnect with my passion for pure metal. And now, I am proud to present the Kilogram Titanium Cube made of Damascus Titanium.  My goal is to inspire others with interesting and unusual metal pieces, just like the titanium earring inspired me. I hope that this Kilogram cube of solid Damascus Titanium will spark a love for science and creativity in someone's life and change the course of their future, just as it did for me. We have raised over $1.2 million here on Kickstarter! In 2015, we launched the KILO Tungsten cube and raised $487,241. Later that year we raised $502,998 for our polished Copper sphere.  We also made the most perfect solid Silicon sphere you can buy with a mirror finish. Trance Metals have since sold thousands of solid metal cubes and spheres to people worldwide and gained a reputation for crafting the highest quality solid metal products.
