Aluminium is a chemical element with the symbol Al and atomic number 13. Here are some interesting facts: It was discovered by Hans Christian Ørsted in 1824. It is only 1/3 the density of steel. It is superconductive at low temperatures. It is almost always alloyed, which markedly improves its mechanical properties, especially when tempered. It is vital to the aerospace industry. Its formability offers smaller parts for easy fabrication. It is also a lightweight, cost-effective and fuel-efficient alternative to other aerospace materials. It is also wildly used in packaging (cans, foil, frames, etc.) because it is non-toxic, non-adsorptive, and splinter-proof. The Austin A40 Sports debuted at the 1949 London Motor Show was aluminum-bodied.
