Sodium Citrate – Non GMO

Sodium Citrate Sodium citrate is a popular food additive used in cooking to emulsify, stabilize, and bind ingredients. It is a white crystalline powder that has a tart, acidic taste. Some common culinary applications for sodium citrate include making cheese, creating smooth sauces, and preventing sauces and dressings from separating. Sodium citrate works by reducing the acidity of ingredients, which helps them combine more easily. For example, when making cheese, adding sodium citrate to the mixture helps the curds and whey separate more efficiently and produce a smooth, creamy texture. In sauces and dressings, it helps to prevent oil and water from separating, resulting in a more consistent product. While sodium citrate is generally safe to eat in the small quantities used in cooking, it also has medical applications associated with kidney funciton and the body’s overall pH, so use with care.
