Sodalite Rough (Brazil)

Sodalite is a deep-blue tectosilicate mineral traditionally associated with truth and clarity of thought. This raw Brazilian specimen shows rich royal-to-navy blue color threaded with white calcite veining, left in its natural, unpolished state so every angle and fracture is visible. Quick facts Stone Sodalite Composition Sodium aluminum silicate chloride (tectosilicate) Hardness (Mohs) 5.5–6 Color Deep royal blue with white calcite veining Origin Brazil Chakra Third Eye & Throat Traditionally used for Truth, clarity, and calm rational thinking Care / Water-safe Generally water-safe for a quick rinse; avoid prolonged soaking Meaning & history Sodalite was first formally identified in the early 1800s and takes its name from its sodium content, though it had long been used as an ornamental stone before it was named. In crystal tradition it is closely tied to truth and clear communication, often used alongside throat chakra and third eye chakra work to support honest, grounded expression. Because this is a rough, unpolished piece, the natural white calcite veining and matrix are left intact, showing sodalite exactly as it forms underground. How to use it Set this rough sodalite on a desk, shelf, or altar where its deep blue color stands out, or hold it during meditation or journaling when working through a difficult conversation. Many people also keep a piece in a workspace as a visual anchor for calm, clear thinking. Care & cleansing Sodalite generally tolerates a quick rinse under running water, but because this piece contains natural calcite veining — which is softer and more water-sensitive — it's best to avoid soaking and to dry it promptly after any contact with water. Cleanse energetically with moonlight, sound, or a smudge pass for a gentler option. Complete the look Pair it with our Sodalite Sterling Silver Pendant for a wearable companion piece. Frequently asked questions What is Sodalite, and what is it for? Sodalite is a deep-blue silicate mineral traditionally associated with truth, clarity, and calm, rational thinking. This raw piece is left in its natural, unpolished state. This is a decorative/symbolic piece, not a health product or medical device. Is Sodalite water-safe? Sodalite itself is generally fine with a quick rinse, but this rough piece contains natural white calcite veining, which is water-sensitive — avoid soaking and dry it promptly if it gets wet. Can I carry it daily, and is it sun-safe? As a rough, unpolished piece it's best kept on display rather than carried loose, since edges can chip. Normal light exposure won't affect its color. How do I cleanse and charge it? Moonlight, sound, and smudging are gentle options; if rinsing, keep it brief and dry the piece thoroughly afterward given the calcite veining. How can I tell it's genuine Sodalite? Genuine sodalite shows a rich, deep royal-to-navy blue color, often threaded with white calcite veining, and has a glassy to slightly waxy luster on fresh breaks. What pairs well with Sodalite? It's commonly paired with other third eye or throat stones like lapis lazuli, blue lace agate, or amethyst.
