Marbled pottery—often called agateware—has captivated makers and collectors for centuries. By folding together contrasting clays, potters allow the clay’s natural movement to form stone-like veining. The result is always singular and unrepeatable: no two pieces will ever share the same the same landscape of color and form. This piece has been soda fired, adding a distinctive surface character. As the vaporized soda interacts with the clay at high heat, it creates subtle washes of color and a gently glazed sheen—effects rarely seen in traditional marbled pottery. Hand thrown in Rockdale, Wisconsin. Fired to 2350° F Soda fired stoneware glaze. Lead-free, food safe glaze. Safe for dishwasher and microwave. Since each pot is made by hand, and fired in a soda atmosphere, variations in size and color are to be expected. Price Includes UPS or USPS shipping to the Continental USA.
