Snowsation Candytuft

Snowsation Candytuft (Iberis sempervirens 'Snowsation')Snowsation Candytuft is a compact evergreen groundcover that gives sunny beds a clean, finished edge year-round. In spring, it erupts with large clusters of bright white flowers that quickly make the whole planting look refreshed. The dense, mounded habit fills gaps neatly and helps keep weeds down along the front of borders. Once established in well-drained soil, it is a dependable, low-fuss performer for rock gardens, edging, and containers. Distinctive FeaturesThis candytuft forms a tight, mounded mat of narrow, dark green evergreen foliage and produces abundant, flat-topped clusters of white flowers in mid spring into late spring. The bloom display is notably heavy for the plant's compact size, often covering much of the foliage at peak. Growth stays neat and well-branched, making it easy to repeat as a consistent edging plant rather than a one-off accent. Good drainage and sun are the keys to keeping the mound dense and healthy over time. Growing Conditions Sun: Full sun to part shade, with best flowering and tightest growth in full sun. Soil: Well-drained soil, and it tolerates a range of soil types as long as drainage is good. Water: Medium moisture to establish, then low to moderate once rooted in, and avoid soggy conditions. USDA Zones: 4 to 9. Mature Size: About 6 to 8 inches tall and 10 to 12 inches wide. Ideal Uses Focal Point: Mass along a path as a focal point in spring when the white bloom creates a bright ribbon of color. Edging: Line bed fronts for a crisp, low evergreen border that stays tidy after flowering. Rock Gardens: Plant in sunny, well-drained pockets where the mound can soften stone edges. Groundcover: Use in groups to knit together a dense mat that covers soil and reduces weeding. Containers: Grow in pots to highlight the spring bloom show and keep a neat evergreen look afterward. Low Maintenance Care Shearing: Shear lightly after flowering to maintain a compact mound and encourage fresh foliage. Watering: Water consistently the first season, then water only during extended drought once established. Drainage: Avoid heavy, wet soils and winter sogginess to protect the crown and improve longevity. Mulching: Mulch lightly to conserve moisture, keeping mulch off the crown for airflow. Winter Care: In exposed sites, a light winter mulch can help reduce drying and foliage scorch. Why Choose Snowsation Candytuft? Spring Impact: Large white flower clusters deliver a strong early-season display for a compact plant. Evergreen Structure: Dense foliage keeps the front of borders looking finished year-round. Compact Habit: Low, mounded growth fits small spaces and edges without crowding neighbors. Heat and Drought Tolerance: Performs well in sunnier, drier sites once established in well-drained soil. Deer Resistance: Often less appealing to deer and rabbits than many low, tender perennials. If you want a tidy evergreen border that also delivers a bright spring moment, Snowsation Candytuft is a strong choice. Give it sun and sharp drainage, then shear after bloom to keep the mound crisp. It looks best repeated, creating a consistent line of white in spring and a clean green edge afterward. In the right spot, it becomes a reliable backbone plant that makes beds look more intentional with less work.
