Snow Sawara False Cypress

Snow Sawara False Cypress (Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Snow') is a dwarf conifer with fine, soft, mossy blue-green foliage whose new tips come out creamy white, so the plant looks lightly frosted through the growing season. It forms a broad mound near 2 to 3 feet tall and wide in zones 5 through 8. The texture is the reason to grow it. Where Golden Mop gives you coarse threadlike strands, Snow gives you fine juvenile foliage that is genuinely soft to the touch, and the white tipping sits on top of a blue-green base rather than turning the whole plant one color. Site it thoughtfully, because the white tissue is the part most likely to burn. A spot with morning sun and afternoon shade, sheltered from hot wind, keeps it cleanest. It suits shady mixed borders, woodland edges, and containers on a covered patio. Light: partial sun, with protection from hot afternoon sun Water: consistent moisture, it is not drought tolerant Soil: moist, well drained and acidic Care: trim out any browned tips in spring, avoid hard pruning into old wood Add Snow Sawara False Cypress to your cart.
