Snow Goose Cherry Tree

Snow Goose Cherry Tree (prunus serrulata) is a Japanese flowering cherry tree apart of the sato zakura group of tree species. Originating in Japan, this tree was created as a hybrid of two species of Japanese cherry trees. The flowering tree can virtually fit in any gardening space due to its oval form and low canopy. Its vase-shaped branches bloom bright green leaves and white flowers with deep pink centers each April. As seasons progress and fall arrives, the deciduous tree's fall colors do not disappoint. Its serrated and pointy leaves turn a bronzed orange color and its bark glows royal burgundy. The tree grows best in full sun, moist and fertile soil, and urban conditions. Unlike most cherry trees, the Snow Goose tree is extremely disease resistant. It has a medium growth rate of about 2 to 4 inches per year and can last upwards of 50 years. One of the species this tree was created from, has a tree in Japan that is 800 years old. In many cultures, their fleeting flowers resemble the all-too-quick passing of youth.
