Snaregade Oval Table

The Audo Copenhagen Snaregade Oval Table takes the same elegant design DNA as the rectangular version but adapts it into an oval shape that actually makes sense for how people sit around dining tables. Designed by Norm Architects and originally created for Audo founder Bjarne Hansen's own dining room, the oval shape eliminates sharp corners while maintaining that efficient use of space and visual lightness that made the original so successful. At 73cm high and sized to accommodate 6-8 chairs comfortably, it brings that minimalist aesthetic with strong geometric presence - thin enough in profile to feel contemporary but durable enough for both commercial restaurants and private dining rooms. Available in black-stained or dark-stained oak veneer tops over MDF, paired with powder-coated black steel bases that create that signature slim silhouette, or with newer linoleum tops that handle the realities of family dinners and restaurant service. What makes the oval shape particularly smart is how it improves conversation flow compared to rectangular tables - everyone can see each other without people at the ends feeling isolated, and there are no awkward corner seats where knees bump into table legs. The thinner top profile enhances elegance without sacrificing durability - the oak veneer construction with polyurethane lacquer finish means it handles spills and daily use without being precious, while the veneer is less prone to splintering and warping than solid wood. The linoleum top options are genuinely practical for families with young children who are constantly spilling things, or restaurant settings where surfaces take constant abuse - hearty enough to withstand real use while maintaining that sophisticated minimalism. The powder-coated steel base provides stability without visual bulk, and that black finish grounds the design whether you're using it in residential or commercial settings. The efficient oval footprint means it fits dining rooms where space matters, and the visually light design prevents it from dominating rooms the way heavier traditional tables do. Audo Copenhagen was formed by uniting MENU, by Lassen, and The Audo, creating a brand where founder Bjarne Hansen's personal needs literally shaped furniture development - this table exists because he needed something specific for his own home. Their collaboration with Norm Architects, founded in Copenhagen in 2008 by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and Kasper Rønn, reflects shared commitment to Scandinavian design ideology emphasizing timeless aesthetics and natural materials. Norm Architects creates designs that unite materials and craftsmanship while embodying timeless simplicity with nothing more to add or subtract. The Snaregade Oval Table demonstrates this philosophy - it solves real functional needs through restrained design that feels customized for every setting, bringing personality and intimacy through thoughtful proportions and quality materials rather than unnecessary decoration.
