1792 Small Batch Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750ml

1792 Small Batch is the flagship year round expression from Barton 1792 Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, the oldest continuously operating distillery in the Bourbon Capital of the World, established in 1879 on 196 acres around the historic Tom Moore Spring. Named for the year Kentucky was admitted to the United States, 1792 is built on the brand's signature high rye mash bill of 75% corn, 15% rye, and 10% malted barley, aged roughly eight years in new charred American oak on the upper floors of Barton's wooden warehouses where intense Kentucky heat drives deeper barrel interaction. Master Distiller Danny Kahn hand selects barrels at peak maturity and marries them in small batches before bottling at an unconventional 93.7 proof, a deliberate sweet spot designed to set this bourbon apart from the field of 90 to 94 proof competitors. The result is a bold, spicy, but genuinely elegant bourbon that punches well above its price point and remains one of the best value high rye bourbons in the entire Sazerac portfolio. Barton chose 93.7 specifically as a brand differentiator and to land at the exact strength they felt delivered the ideal balance of body, flavor, and approachability for the high rye mash bill. It's an unusual number that has become part of 1792's identity. What does "high rye" mean here? Standard bourbons typically use 8 to 12% rye in the mash bill. 1792's recipe uses 15% rye, putting it in the high rye category alongside Four Roses and Bulleit. The extra rye produces more pepper, baking spice, and a bolder, drier finish than corn forward bourbons like Buffalo Trace or Maker's Mark. How does Small Batch compare to other 1792 expressions?
