Slinging Mud

Caroline Pinney’s paintings strike a balance between raw spontaneity and deliberate composition, merging gestural expression with refined technique. These limited edition prints capture the sense and tone of her evocative paintings. Drawing inspiration from her surroundings, Pinney creates a distinctive color palette layered with textures that carry an almost tactile energy. Her works feel both intimate and bold, rooted in a rich, idiosyncratic visual language. Pinney’s process is as unconventional as it is dynamic: she works with acrylic, oil, and charcoal, while also exploring experimental materials like coffee stains, ink from natural sources, and spray paint. By layering and sometimes erasing her marks, she breathes life into her canvases, imbuing each piece with an arresting sense of movement and depth that speaks to her connection with both medium and place.
