Quiet Hours: A Caffeine-Free Evening Tea Set

After the dinner is done and the dishes are washed, now is the time to relax and enjoy some quiet time. This set of herbal teas has been curated for those quiet hours in preparation of restful and restorative sleep.  Four caffeine-free herbal blends, an ounce of each. Not a sequence to work through in a night — a small collection to choose from, so the evening cup isn't the same cup every time. Happy Tummy — skullcap, catnip, spearmint, lemongrass, fennel, sage, rosemary, calendula flowers. For a soothing cup just after dinner. Serenitea — lemon verbena, chamomile, mint, lavender, rose petals and cornflower. The one to make when you finally sit down. Slumberland — lemon balm, hibiscus, skullcap, passionflower, hops , valerian root, lavender flowers. Later, once the lights are low. Chamomile Flowers — unblended, nothing added. Last thing, when you want the smallest possible cup. None of these come from Camellia sinensis, so none of them contain caffeine.  One cup most nights, two if the evening is long. Each ounce makes around ten cups, so the set lasts a month or more of evenings. That's the intended pace. Four cups of anything before bed will have you awake at three in the morning no matter what's in them. Bought separately, the four come to $38.20. A note on these herbs. Slumberland contains valerian root, passionflower, hops and skullcap, and Happy Tummy contains skullcap too. These are potent traditional herbs, not flavorings. If you are pregnant or nursing, or take any regular medication — particularly for sleep, anxiety or blood pressure — please talk to your doctor before drinking them.
