Skyline® Honeylocust Tree

A striking blend of color and form The Skyline® Honeylocust Tree is a stunning option that truly offers a dynamic display throughout the seasons. Known for its upright, pyramidal shape and impressive canopy of dark green leaves that fill the center of the tree, it provides ample shade during the hot summer months. As the seasons change, the tree puts on a spectacular show with bright golden hues and sunset orange juvenile growth, creating an eye-catching contrast that adds interest and vibrancy to any landscape. This thornless, seedless tree not only elevates the visual appeal of your yard but also serves practical functions. Its finely-textured foliage provides light dappled shade, allowing grass and ground plants to thrive beneath it. In addition to its aesthetic and functional attributes, the Skyline® Honeylocust is known for its resilience and adaptability in various soil types, making it a reliable choice for both urban and suburban settings. Planting & Care 1. Planting: Choose a location that receives full sun for optimal growth. The Skyline® Honeylocust prefers well-drained soils but is adaptable to various soil types. Dig a planting hole that is twice as wide as the root ball and just as deep, placing the tree in the center and backfilling with soil. Water the tree thoroughly after planting to help settle the soil around the roots. 2. Watering: During its first year, ensure the tree receives regular watering, especially during dry spells. The root zone should be kept moist, but avoid overwatering. Once established, the Skyline® Honeylocust is quite drought-tolerant and may only need supplemental watering during prolonged dry periods. 3. Pruning: Light pruning is recommended in late winter or early spring to maintain the tree’s shape and remove any dead, damaged, or crossing branches. Avoid heavy pruning, as this can encourage excessive growth and affect the tree’s overall health. 4. Fertilizing: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in the spring to promote healthy growth. It’s best to follow soil test recommendations to ensure that you’re providing the right nutrients to your tree based on local soil conditions.
