Skip Counting in Thousands

Skip counting in thousands ‌lays‌ ‌out‌ ‌the‌ ‌patterns‌ ‌fundamental‌ ‌to‌ ‌arithmetic.‌ ‌In‌ ‌these ‌self-directed‌ ‌homeschool workbook‌s, students‌ ‌will‌ ‌internalize‌ ‌these‌ ‌patterns‌ ‌and‌ ‌pave‌ ‌the‌ ‌way‌ ‌to‌ ‌mastery‌ ‌over‌ numbers.‌ Skip counting in thousands is essential to arithmetic with large numbers. Just like with hundreds, counting in thousands is no different than just counting. The exercises begin with simple multiples of a thousand ending in zeros and end with arbitrary thousands. Backwards counting is also used. Drawn arrows are used in the first couple exercises and numeral writing is employed thereafter. The student has the opportunity to put to practice what they learned on the Number Lake on the Ten Thousands Boards. The boards start out easy with full color-coded guidance. The exercises are repeated with lesser guidance with the last exercises virtually unaided by visual cues. Blank and Printer Friendly Worksheets (PDF download only) Blank Number Lakes and Ten Thousands Boards are provided for exercises customized by you.
