Sitting Grid Cool Learning Rug

The Sitting Grid Cool Learning Rug combines a 24-seat color-block grid with an educational border that runs the full alphabet in upper and lowercase around the top and bottom, and the numbers 1 through 10 down both sides. Every child has a clearly defined seat in cool teal, slate blue, or silver-gray. Every session on the rug is also a session surrounded by letters and numbers. The educational content is built into the border - no wall chart needed, no separate alphabet strip, no number line to mount. Size Seats Each Seat Measures Best For 7'6 x 12' 24 seats 22.7" x 19" Full class circle time, early elementary classrooms Classroom Seating Overview Designed to comfortably support typical classroom seating by grade level. Actual seating may vary depending on student size and classroom layout. Rug Size Kindergarten 1st Grade 2nd Grade 3rd Grade 7'6" x 12' 24 24 22 20 The border layout is particularly well considered. The alphabet runs top and bottom with A through M across the top, N through Z across the bottom, which means every child on the rug can see both halves of the alphabet from their seat without turning around. The numbers 1 through 10 run vertically down each side, giving teachers a number line reference on the floor that stays visible during every group lesson. The educational content is at floor level, where children's eyes actually are during circle time, not posted on the wall above their sightline. The cool teal, slate blue, and silver-gray color blocks in the seating grid keep the visual environment settled. The rotating pattern of three colors across the grid gives teachers a natural grouping tool - teal seats, blue seats, gray seats - without adding visual intensity. The navy border anchors the whole design and gives the rug a clean, modern look that works in any classroom aesthetic. Teaching Ideas Alphabet border activities Point to a letter on the top border and ask students to find its partner on the bottom, call out the sound, or name a word that starts with it. Ask children to count how many vowels appear in the top row, find the letter their name starts with, or walk along the border touching each letter in sequence. The full alphabet runs the perimeter of the rug — it is always present, always accessible, and always in a child's peripheral view during group time. Number line and counting activities The numbers 1 through 10 running down both sides of the rug function as a floor-level number line. Ask children to count the seats in their row, use the side numbers to identify their row position, or walk up and down the side border counting aloud. For addition and subtraction in first and second grade, the number line on the rug gives children a concrete, physical reference they can point to and touch rather than working from an abstract mental model. Color block grouping and coordinate activities Three seat colors across the grid create instant group assignments without any labels or extra materials. Combine that with the numbered side borders and teachers have a coordinate system built into the floor: row 3, teal square becomes a precise, unambiguous seat reference. Use this for attendance, transition management, partner assignments, or early work with rows and columns that connects directly to math grid concepts in first and second grade.
