More About Single Malt Whiskey Single malt whiskey is crafted from 100% malted barley, distilled in copper pot stills, and aged in oak casks to develop its signature depth and character. Unlike blended whiskeys, single malt whiskey is made exclusively from malted barley at a single distillery, offering a unique and rich malt-forward profile. Whisky vs. Whiskey: What’s the Difference? The difference between whisky and whiskey primarily comes down to geography and tradition: Whisky (no "e") – Used in Scotland, Canada, and Japan. Whiskey (with "e") – Used in Ireland and the United States. Why the Difference? The spelling variation dates back to the 19th century, when Irish distillers added an "e" to distinguish their whiskey from Scottish whisky. This convention was later adopted by American distillers.
