An authentic bronze dupondius struck by Jewish rebels in the Bar Kokhba Revolt (132-135 CE), overstruck on Roman coinage to proclaim independence. Its obverse bears a date palm, its reverse a vine leaf, each faintly showing the Roman coin beneath. A defiant relic of the last stand for Jewish independence in antiquity.
