An authentic bronze dupondius struck by Jewish rebels in the Bar Kokhba Revolt (132-135 CE), overstruck on Roman coinage to proclaim independence. Its obverse bears a three-stringed lyre, its reverse a palm branch within a wreath, each still showing traces of the Roman coin beneath. A defiant relic of the last stand for Jewish independence.
