Silver Paste Solders-Extra Easy,Easy, Medium & Hard

Silver paste solder puts a measured bead of flux-mixed solder exactly where the joint needs it, so torch work at the bench stays clean and repeatable. Four flow-point options—Extra Easy, Easy, Medium, and Hard—give jewelers and metalsmiths control over a soldering sequence. Each syringe holds approximately 10 pennyweights (10 DWT, one half troy ounce) of silver solder pre-mixed with paste flux, and the paste extrudes directly from the syringe for accurate placement on the work. This paste silver solder is intended for hard (torch) soldering, or brazing, only. All formulas are cadmium free and lead free. The grades Extra Easy, Easy, Medium, and Hard describe the relative temperature flow points within a solder family. Extra Easy flows at the lowest temperature and Hard flows at the highest. As a general rule, higher flow-point solders carry a higher silver content, which improves color match to sterling silver and can contribute to stronger bonds. When manufacturing, begin with the hardest (highest temperature) solder so that later repairs can be made with lower temperature grades without re-flowing earlier joints. When making repairs, use the lowest temperature solder available, since the alloys used originally are unknown. Warning: paste flux contains fluorides. Use in a well-ventilated area.
