Raphael Silk Pictorial Rug 4' x 2'6"

Size: 4 x 2.6 ft. Origin: China Material: Pure Silk In the 18th and 19th centuries, some rug workshops moved away from abstract patterns, choosing instead of depicting subjects taken from classical prose and poetry. Instead, scenes of country life, hunting and mythical subjects were woven in silk and wool. This exquisite rug was drawn directly from a Louis XIX Gobelin tapestry from the series Les sujets de la fable after the drawings by Raphael. This exceptionally dignified and outstanding silk work depicts a mythological scene with Bacchus and Ariadne and would make a statement in any chateau. Authentic modern and revival Chinese rugs are hand-knotted with wool or silk. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind. Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Our rugs are professionally cleaned.
