Instead, scenes of country life, hunting and mythical subjects were woven in silk and wool. This exquisite rug was drawn directly from a Louis XIX Gobelin tapestry from the series Les sujets de la Fable after the drawings by Raphael. Depicting a mythological scene with Bacchus and Ariadne, this exceptionally dignified and outstanding silk work of art would make a statement in any chateau. Authentic modern and revival Chinese rugs are hand-knotted with wool or silk. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind.
